THE THERESA J. STANOVICH MEMORIAL SCHOLARSHIP
The Theresa J. Stanovich Memorial Scholarship Fund has been established to promote and encourage the attainment of higher education for a young lady or gentleman who would like to attend college or university and for whom financial need may pose a significant hurdle. This Scholarship was one of the final requests of Mrs. Theresa Jones Stanovich, a native Pensacolian, Tate High School Graduate and Gulf Power Retiree who never had the opportunity to attend college herself. The wife of PGA Professional Martin “Stan” Stanovich, a former golfer and long-time supporter of the golf community, Mrs. Stanovich was proud to know that in perpetuity, each year one alumnus of The Greater Pensacola Junior Golf Association and/or The First Tee of Northwest Florida would receive a scholarship in her name. This program is designed to award at least one scholarship annually with a minimum of $1000 or more based on donations received/monies raised.
Applicant must be an active multi-year participant of the GPJGA and/or The First Tee of Northwest Florida and graduate high school prior to the end of the current school year. Golfing ability is not a criterion, though program participation is required for eligibility. Recipients must be accepted to and planning to enroll as a full-time college student in the upcoming fall semester. Applicant should have also demonstrated an above average level of academic achievement during high school. A statement of financial need is not required to apply, but will be strongly considered if included, as was Mrs. Stanovich’s request. Applicants are encouraged to also apply for the Joe and Tracey Durant GPJGA Scholarship.
