thank YOU FOR YOUR INTEREST IN THE GPJGA SUMMER TOUR!
dESCRIPTION OF THE TOUR:
The Summer Tour is a five-week tournament series open to any junior golfers ages 6–18 (age as of 8/3/20) who desire tournament-playing experience. Players don’t have to play all five weeks (they can play in only one if they want to), but they need to complete at least three tournaments to be eligible for end-of-tour awards. We will award the champions of each division (top five places plus ties)* at the banquet on July 23. Champions will be extended an invitation to the A. Downing Gray Cup at Pensacola Country Club, August 3–4, with registration fees PAID by the GPJGA. (*There is NOT a division at the A. Downing Gray Cup for 9-hole players ages 14-18 or 18-hole “one-day only” players).
For questions about the Summer Tour, contact Jennifer Hobbs, Tournament Director, firstname.lastname@example.org (this is the quickest, easiest way to reach the Tournament Director.) You can also call 850-456-7010, but this is not the quickest, easiest way to reach the Tournament Director, especially on the weekends! DO NOT CALL THE OFFICE ON THE WEEKENDS! THE OFFICE IS CLOSED ON WEEKENDS! PLEASE EMAIL JENNIFER. THANKS! For issues with tee times, email Jennifer ASAP!
Players must register by the Wednesday prior to the tournament. Late fees will be assessed after Wednesdays and a spot cannot be guaranteed–openings are on a space-available basis only. It will depend on if there are spots left in your requested age division.
Tee Times are available by clicking here on the Friday before the tournament by 5 pm. Always double-check your tee time before you head to the course. Pairings and tee times are always subject to change! In the case of inclement weather, CALL THE GOLF COURSE FOR AN UPDATE! DO NOT CALL OUR OFFICE! WE ARE NOT THERE! WE ARE AT THE GOLF COURSE! Rain-outs will be rescheduled and played if possible based on timing and course availability.

Description of Divisions:
The Future Masters Division: This division is for “new and developing” golfers ages 6–18. Ages 6–7 play six holes per tournament. Ages 8-18 play nine holes per tournament. (Based on age on our before our season championship August 3, 2020). Each junior must participate in his or her own age group with exceptions to play “up” a division only approved by the GPJGA Committee. Medals are awarded weekly for 1st–3rd place in each age division for boys and girls. One caddie is allowed in this division. However, “coaching” should take place at the warm-up areas, not during tournament play as it can negatively affect pace of play. Penalties will be assessed to a player if a player is not keeping up with their group and slowing down play, especially if this is happening due to excessive “coaching” by a caddie. Age groups are as follows: Ages 6-7, 8-9, 10-11, 12-13, 14-18. Ages 6-11 play on Tuesday mornings. Ages 12-18 play on Monday mornings.
The Junior Masters Division: This division is for the more advanced junior golfer. There is not a minimum age, but players must make a “Cut” to participate in this Division. On the player’s first attempt, he/she must score a 54 or better on their front nine in order to proceed to the back nine. If they do not score at least a 54, they must end their round. They will be allowed to re-attempt the next week. If the player does not make the Cut within two attempts, the player will be placed in the 9-hole Future Masters Division and receive a partial refund. 54 Plays and 55 Stays–No Exceptions. (Opportunities to make the Cut are only offered on Monday Tournament dates.) In this division, no caddies are allowed and USGA Rules shall govern all play along with any Local Rules and Terms of Competition adopted by the Committee for the particular competition or course. Golfers play a two-day, 36-hole tournament. For round one, all players are combined into one open flight (based on gender not age). Groups will re-pair for round two based on day-one results, with the lowest scoring players going out last. All ages play the same tees, under the same conditions of competition under USGA Rules. EApprox. yardages for Boys: 6,000-6,500 yds/Girls: 5,000-5,500 yds. Trophies are awarded for 1st-3rd place after the final round each week. Junior Scoreboard: All 36-hole results are ranked and listed on Junior Golf Scoreboard: juniorgolfscoreboard.com (as long as there are at least five players in the division completing 36 holes).
Junior Masters One-Day Option: Golfers may opt to play in only one day of each two-day tournament round. For example, the golfer may opt to play only on a Monday–or on a Tuesday. Medals are awarded for lowest 18-hole scores (first through third place–including ties). NOTE: Only completed 36-hole results can be posted to Junior Golf Scoreboard (i.e., If junior opts to only play on Monday OR Tuesday (not both days), their results cannot be posted to the Junior Golf Scoreboard and will not be used to determine qualifying for A. Downing Gray Cup).
